Neko Case (first name pronounced: Niko, *September 8 1970 in Alexandria , Virginia ) is an American singer-songwriter.
She began her career in Vancouver (Canada to look out for the school in Tacoma a graphic design studies at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design received. She played in several local bands (including Cub) the drums and became a member of the band Maow . There, she played drums and sang a peculiar mix of punk and country . First they toured it under the name Neko Case and Her Boyfriends.

One year after publication of the CD single Maow (The Unforgiving Sounds of Maow) Case published her first solo album in country style, still dominated by cover versions ( The Virginian ). It was followed by a duet album with Canadian singer-songwriter Carolyn Mark under the band name Corn Sisters ( The Other Woman ), the Case and Mark have recorded live in Seattle. The breakthrough came in 2000 with the then Neko Case album Furnance Room Lullaby . For her album Blacklisted two years later, she received good reviews worldwide. In 2001, Case took his own words in her kitchen, an EP ( Canadian Amp ) on an unplugged album, especially with cover versions (including Neil Young’s Dreaming Man ).

In 2000, the band formed in Vancouver, The New Pornographers . It consists of local music celebrities such as Carl Newman and John Collins. Case, the city after graduating from immigration legal reasons, had to leave and after Chicago moved, sings and plays tambourine for the three Pornographers albums.
