Neil Sedaka (* March 13 1939 in Brooklyn , New York ) is an US -American singer and songwriter . He wrote music for more than 1,000 songs, lined at the beginning of the 1960s hit after hit. His father is the son of Turkish-Jewish immigrants. The mother was the daughter of Russian-Polish-Jewish immigrants.
As a youth he studied piano. He later studied at Juilliard – Conservatory and worked at a classical music radio station. Initially, he also experimented with doo-wop and rock and roll was in the early recordings of the token there.

His first success as a composer he had with Stupid Cupid . The song was in 1958 for Connie Francis a big hit. He has been repeated by many other artists. Sedaka then received a contract as a solo artist for RCA Records. Breaking Up Is Hard To Do 1962 was his first number one hit.He wrote Oh! Carol, Standing on the Inside, Stairway To Heaven, Calendar Girl, Little Devil, Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen and Next Door To An Angel. 1963 ended the hit series.

In the 1970s he managed to support Elton John, a comeback in Britain. In 1974, he jumped with Laughter In The Rain topped the local charts. The of Captain & Tennille song written Love Will Keep Us Together won a Grammy.

Together with Howard Greenfield Sedaka wrote the song Is This the Way to Amarillo? who interprets himself only reached 44th place in the U.S., but in 1972 for Tony Christie became a No. 1 hit in Germany. 1973 Sedaka co-wrote with Phil Cody the English lyrics to ABBA’s Ring Ring . With his daughter, Dara, he came in 1980 with the title Should’ve never let you go in the top 10 of the United States.
